Colombia. With the arrival of the holiday period, the hotel occupancy rate increases considerably and with it, the need to provide a better and safe service.
One of the solutions found by the hotel sector is the use of surveillance cameras, not only to solve crimes and losses, they also serve to supervise staff, train staff and optimize operations.
The technological trend has already reached South America, where skilled labor represents a challenge for the sector. The Reina de Brasil hotel, in São Paulo, uses 106 Axis surveillance cameras as a hotel management tool, evaluating through the images the quality of the service provided by the staff. In addition, the visualization of the cameras in real time allows to avoid accidents, such as when a child fell into the adult pool, the cameras alerted the security team immediately.
Some hotels have come to see that the advantages of installing cameras can go beyond improving quality control and supporting the training of new employees. The management of the Belair hotel in Spain found that the presence of cameras also increased employee productivity and reduced energy costs after the use of the equipment began to be monitored.
The adoption of digital cameras for hotel management purposes tends to increase with the current process of migration from old analog cameras to more modern systems with high image quality. New ventures tend to have digital systems from day one.
According to Luis Alberto Delgado, manager of Axis Communications, hotels will increasingly have opportunities to improve service through the integration of technologies. "The new surveillance cameras are already intelligent and allow to recognize the arrival of a guest registered in another hotel of the same network and alert the person in charge of the reception, immediately showing the guest's record. The receptionist can greet the guest by name and inform that the room is already on the list and with the items of their preference, establishing a differentiated relationship with the client, "explains Delgado.
