Argentina. If there are no last-minute changes, this week the installation of 400 security cameras for Rosario will be awarded, as confirmed by the governor of Santa Fe, Antonio Bonfatti.
The initiative also includes 200 cameras for the capital city and another 260 for the towns of Rafaela, Reconquista and Venado Tuerto.
The president made the announcement within the framework of the signing of the agreement from which the non-criminal procedures that are currently carried out in police stations will be transferred to the offices of the civil registries that operate in the municipal district centers. Specifically, it is the certificate of declaration of domicile (known as "neighborhood certificate") and the certificate of survival.
In relation to video surveillance cameras, the investment exceeds 40 million pesos (about US $ 7.8 million) and it is estimated that they may be operational towards the end of the year or the beginning of 2014.
The cameras will allow, for example, the identification of the patent of a vehicle with a capture order and will also make it possible to recognize faces.
The video surveillance project consists of the following items, including all within the tender specifications: Security Cameras (which will record the video sequences that will be stored in the data centers, and viewed live in the monitoring centers); Monitoring Point (cameras grouped in a geographical area, including all the infrastructure components necessary for the provision of the service in that area); Video Network (which will communicate to the Monitoring Points with the Backbone Network); Red Troncal (government metropolitan communications network); Data Center (site where the recording and management infrastructure will be installed); and Monitoring Center (site where the operators of the Video Surveillance System will be located).
