Mexico. With an investment of more than US$4 million, the southern state of Oaxaca reactivated its video surveillance system, within which the installation of 230 cameras in the historic center of its capital and its urban area became effective.
The new equipment is of altitude of 15 meters and long range for the simultaneous monitoring of several points with infrared gaze, such as public squares, cruise ships and roads of high vehicular flow.
"Within the security operating system of the C4, there are computerized servers and at least 25 screens, through which information obtained from the Oaxaca System and Plataforma México is received and sent, which includes data such as fingerprints, automobile licenses, driver's licenses, telecommunications information or seismological registration," said Governor Gabino Cué.
In addition, he said that "before the end of the year there will be security cameras in the regions of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, Papaloapan Basin and Coast, and for next year the Mixteca is contemplated, in order to cover a universe of 2 million 700 thousand inhabitants of the state," he concluded.
As a curious fact, this renovation will implement a new modality by using deaf-mute police in the monitoring system, who according to the authorities have a very developed visual sense and can better detect what happens in the different points where the video cameras are located, as well as read the conversations of people at a distance.
