Bosch's Room-Ident function allows fire location. A single detection unit can monitor up to five rooms.This system detects the focus of the conflagration in a rapid four-phase procedure, displaying the result both in the unit and in the affected room.
The first phase uses the pipes that run through the rooms to obtain and evaluate the samples of air obtained by aspiration. The second, early fire detection, vacuums and analyzes smoke particles. The presence of smoke immediately triggers an alarm to allow for an immediate response.
In phase three, reverse flow, the suction device is disconnected when it detects an alarm and a second device is activated to expel all smoke particles by cleaning the pipe. Finally, in the fourth stage, the location stage, after the piping system is clean and has expelled the smoke particles, the direction and flow of the air is restored again.
Based on the time it takes for the sucked smoke to reach the detection module, the system determines in which of the monitored rooms the fire is located.
