The SmartScan non-contact thermal imaging system is a solution that is offered as an additional accessory for the new Garrett PD 6500i or MZ 6100 step metal detectors, or can be adapted to previously installed Garrett detectors.

The technology allows body temperature measurements to be taken simultaneously with the metal detector security control, making temperature control much faster and easier for users of Garrett detectors, thus becoming an efficient, multifunctional and contactless portal using artificial intelligence.

Among the first users of this new technology is the city of Fort Worth, Texas, which installed Garrett's new SmartScan metal detectors at Fort Worth City Hall and the adjacent A.D. Marshall Public Safety Building. SmartScan has also been installed in other cities to protect stadiums, K-12 schools, manufacturing facilities and office buildings.
