      Details     10 February 2011          08/02/2011. The plenary session of the Chamber of Deputies approved a reform to the Federal Law on Private Security to include companies dedicated to satellite location, which until today lacked regulation.

The initiative provides a regulatory framework to companies that offer surveillance, tracking, monitoring and tracking services of people and vehicles, using satellite technology such as chips and GPS devices, among others.

08/02/2011. The plenary session of the Chamber of Deputies approved a reform to the Federal Law on Private Security to include companies dedicated to satellite location, which until today lacked regulation.

The initiative provides a regulatory framework to companies that offer surveillance, tracking, monitoring and tracking services of people and vehicles, using satellite technology such as chips and GPS devices, among others.

The law provides that companies dedicated to the implantation of location chips in people must guarantee the necessary sanitary conditions so as not to affect the health of customers.

The approved opinion indicates that despite the common collaboration between the authorities and these companies, they were not regulated by the Federal Law on Private Security.

Now the companies of this turn must register with the authorities the list of their real estate, such as technological equipment, weapons and vehicles, 'in the formats established for this purpose by the general direction'.

They must also have the sanitary registration of personal identification devices, as well as comply with the requirements established in the applicable health regulations when storing and transporting said devices.

The reform, which has as its original chamber the Senate of the Republic, was approved with 399 votes in favor, four against and six abstentions and was turned over to the Federal Executive for publication.
