The portal of the Lithuanian tax agency received thousands of requests from servers located in Romania that collapsed the service but without causing loss of information. Gediminas Vysniauskis, deputy head of the tax agency, told local media that "it seems that the attacks have been planned." These attacks on government entities are an increasingly frequent phenomenon, according to the Reuters news agency, and are carried out by criminals, protest groups or activists. In April, the websites of Estonia's public administrations were bombed in protest at the removal of a bronze statue depicting a Red Army soldier from the centre of the capital, Tallinn.
