The path to more sustainable and efficient data centers

Latin America. Precise temperature and humidity control in data centers is critical to ensure energy efficiency, reduce usage, and maintain consistent operating conditions. Advanced monitoring solutions enable operators to maximize resources and anticipate new regulatory demands in the environmental field.

According to data from Statista, global data center market revenue is expected to grow at an annual rate of 8.45%, reaching $624.1 billion by 2029. This increase also leads to an increase in the use of energy, especially in cooling systems, which has driven the search for solutions that reduce the effect on the environment.

"In data centers, it is imperative to regulate temperature and humidity exactly."  Advanced monitoring solutions make it possible to stay ahead of environmental regulations, optimize cooling efficiency, and reduce energy use, making operations more sustainable and reliable," says Ricardo Parada, Sales Director at Vaisala.

The use of sensors that provide accurate information in real time helps prevent excessive cooling, one of the main reasons for energy waste in these environments.  This technology, in addition to reducing consumption, facilitates the identification and management of so-called "hot spots" in server rooms, critical areas where temperature fluctuations can impair the performance or longevity of the equipment.

"The longer a device lasts, the less replacements are required."  Long-lasting sensors reduce the need for constant changes, which reduces e-waste and fosters a more sustainable economy," says Parada.

Efficiency is also related to the possibility of reuse. Devices that can be adjusted to the fluctuating demands of data centers make it possible to prolong their durability and reduce waste production, favoring more conscious processes in the use of materials and in the use of daily energy.

"Efficient sensors are those that can be reused continuously, adapting to evolving business needs."   Not only does this reduce waste, but it also reduces the need to replace them on a regular basis.   With the continuous increase in global demand for data, the need for efficient and sustainable tracking solutions becomes more imperative than ever. Thanks to advanced sensor technology, data centers now have the flexibility to stay ahead of both environmental regulations and operational demands. This progress is key to building a more sustainable economy in the future," he concludes.
