This initiative is part of the second stage of the so-called Citizen Security Project, which is being executed in the municipality located in the province of Lima. Thus, while the work continues to place poles for the next installation of the new cameras in avenues and parks, the local authorities announced that the 550 new devices have facial recognition, license plate recognition, panoramic and 360° vision functions. These video cameras will be interconnected by fiber optic cables and will be added to the more than 400 already available to the Monitoring and Video Surveillance Center of Villa El Salvador. Similarly, the Municipal Mayor's Office specified that together with the hundreds of cameras, 200 panic buttons and 250 megaphones will be put into operation, among other solutions for the protection and security of more than 440 thousand inhabitants of the jurisdiction. Finally, the second stage of the Citizen Security Project contemplates within nine months the delivery of 20 video surveillance sub-centers, which include temporary detention spaces for offenders, as well as 30 vehicles to reinforce the security patrols.
