The company explains that it is possible that they may have contaminated the door handle or other surfaces, in addition to having left pollutants in the air in their wake. This report helps identify all people who are at increased risk of having had contact with contaminants or infected people. This feature will also be useful for customers handling hazardous substances and is made available to all Genetec Synergis access control customers at no cost. Developed at the request of McCormick Place in Chicago, the largest convention center in North America, the reporting functionality correlates the physical proximity of an infected person with other registered employees and visitors, based on the use of the access control system. Thus, a report can be quickly generated to correlate access events by time interval to identify people who are at higher risk of having been in contact with contaminants or infected people. This will allow companies to proactively inform people about their possible contamination, and in this way, take the necessary hygienic forecasts, following health and safety procedures and regulations. "With Synergis, any organization can produce a detailed report showing employee and visitor exposure metrics using existing access control information," said Thibaut Louvet, product group manager for Access Control at Genetec. "We must consider that, if two people passed through the same door in a short period, there is a good chance that they have had some level of interaction.
