      Details     25 February 2013           ![alt](https://www.ventasdeseguridad.com/images/stories/VDS/Noticias/cochabambainversionseguridad.jpg)*Bolivia.* The Government of Cochabamba will invest at least 4.2 million Bolivians (about US$600,000) to execute three components of strengthening preventive police tasks: surveillance cameras, free data transfer systems and a communication network, according to the director of Citizen Security, Henry Terrazas.

"In total, we are talking about almost 4.2 million Bolivians. We only wait for the approval of La Paz to have a real, objective schedule, and our hopes would be to install (the first component) in the first half of this year," Terrazas said.

He reported that on March 15 they will meet with a delegation from the Government of China to coordinate the installation of 120 security cameras in the department. Meanwhile, the Government plans to invest 1.6 million Bolivians in the installation of a hybrid, wireless and optical network, which will require a pre-investment.

The network will allow the cameras to be connected to a monitoring center and the distribution of images to different units.

At the beginning of 2013, surveillance cameras were installed in the prisons of El Abra, San Antonio and San Sebastián men, to control and prevent the entry of alcoholic beverages and other prohibited substances.

The project of security cameras has been pending since 2008 and on the last occasion the purchase of cameras was postponed due to indications of overpricing in the acquisition of the equipment. Subsequently, the project to be inserted into a national project was reactivated.
