# [ Fire suppression systems for rising water mist](https://www.ventasdeseguridad.com/en/news/latest-news/431-enterprises/13632-fire-suppression-systems-for-rising-water-mist.html " Fire suppression systems for rising water mist")

Details 21 August 2008 *International*. The market for water mist fire suppression systems should grow at a compound annual rate of 13% to exceed US$400 million by 2011. These systems are gaining acceptance and recognition as viable, 'green' and versatile technologies, states a study by IMS Research. This is because they use less water than conventional sprinklers to control fire, and therefore cause less damage. Nozzles with this technology divide the water into a mist of small droplets that increases the surface to absorb heat and cool fires, and since the droplets evaporate and expand quickly, the oxygen that feeds the fire is depleted. Most of the demand has so far been generated in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, with 70% of the global market in 2007, while demand in Asia and North America has been low due to the lower presence of local suppliers, the high cost of systems and confidence in conventional systems. ### No comments
