International. Idemia announced a global partnership with Bosch Building Technologies, to take advantage of the rapidly growing biometric access control market. According to analysts, this billion-dollar market in 2021 will grow to $1.4 billion by 2024, double the growth of traditional access control systems.
This booming market comes from the fact that a growing number of companies understand that, for their security, they can no longer rely only on simple identification credentials, which can be cloned (for older technologies still used by 44% of companies) or simply stolen. The consequence is that it is never possible to know with certainty who is entering the premises. Biometrics, based on personal, physiological and unforgivable characteristics, provides the highest degree of certainty that the person passing through the door is a genuine authorized employee. Bosch Building Technologies offers a software solution that manages different Bosch security subsystems, such as access control, video surveillance, fire alarm, public address system and intrusion systems on a single platform, Bosch Building Integration System (BIS). This robust and reliable system of safety and personal protection is proven by more than 3,000 installations integrating 10 million detectors worldwide.
Bosch will offer Idemia's flagship contactless biometric terminals:
- MorphoWave ™, terminal capable of scanning and verifying 4 fingerprints in less than 1 second by fast, simple and contactless movement of the hand,
- VisionPass, a facial recognition terminal that combines 2D, 3D and infrared cameras with Idemia's leading facial algorithms.
Both terminals combine high biometric accuracy, speed and convenience with a totally contactless user experience. They work efficiently with sanitary masks and are therefore well adapted to Covid prevention policies. Idemia terminals are already integrated with the BIS platform and with most door and tourniquet suppliers. This will greatly facilitate Bosch's market-specific implementations with a focus on commercial buildings, industrial and logistics sites, government facilities, and airports/seaports.
"We want to offer innovative and fascinating solutions, as our motto 'invented for life' says. When our customers are going to deploy biometric terminals for their security, they will be installed for years so we want to offer them the best option. Idemia is therefore the right partner for us because of its technology expertise and its proven quality and performance in the field," said Gregor Schlechtriem, Senior Vice President, Access and Intrusion Business Unit, Bosch Building Technologies.
"We are delighted to start this global partnership with Bosch. The combination of our biometric devices with the BIS platform will be a strong offering for companies seeking a high level of security and user convenience," said Yves Portalier, executive vice president of biometric and automotive devices at Idemia.
