Latin America. HID Global presented its latest product line designed for card personalization, fully modular and high-strength, which establishes a new category for mid-range and high-volume market segments.
This line called HID Element offers advanced card production capabilities, its flexible system architecture, as well as the economical implementation model, allow organizations to create customized solutions for the secure identification and production of financial cards in a wide variety of practical cases.
"From government institutions to financial card issuers and service bureaus, customers around the world have specific personalization and card issuance requirements, for which traditional printers with direct-to-card printing, and large production machines can be too expensive or take up too much space," said Craig Sandness. Vice President and Managing Director of HID Global's Secure Issuance Division. "Our HID Element product line bridges the gap between desktop printers and central broadcast machines, making it a precursor to a new method of offering a large number of options with extensive configuration options to address customers' current and future challenges."
The company explained that this new product line allows optimal customization of the cards and fits projects that require printing with high-resolution UV ink, laser engraving or both processes. The line, designed to serve the needs of government and financial institutions, medium and large corporations, as well as service bureaus, features top-notch features that meet the demand for higher print speed, higher resolution, higher card output and better cost per card.
The following are the main features of the product line that allow a wide variety of configuration options:
• Accurate inkjet card printing drop by drop(DOD) with UV curing. Options range from full-color or monochrome text and full-color graphics printing, with up to six configurable ink channels. Users have many possibilities for color customization, fluorescent colors, and color touch effects.
• Laser engraving system that allows the personalization of cards of high durability and protected against manipulation. Provide secure black markings under the surface or with touch effect and accurate grayscale images in a laser engraving system or combined with a color UV ink module.
• Multiple options for card encoding. Omnikey® or third-party (Smartware®) HYBRID reader, contact and non-contact readers, and programmer function and magnetic stripe support.
• Lenticular customization. Multiple laser image (MLI)/recorded changeable laser image (CLI) or data change with the viewing angle for easy authentication.
• Optional modules. Additional input/output card tray providing a total capacity of up to 1600 cards and a camera system for registration and verification.
The company stressed that this launch is already available in Latin America, except in Mexico and Argentina, for the time being.
